An Update

I shall be keeping the Photo-a-Day going here as well as the 26 Socks in 52 Weeks page.
No doubt, I shan’t be able to keep away from blogging for too long, it’s just that at the moment I don’t really have anything interesting to show you apart from socks!

Break-Time

I shall not be blogging for the foreseeable future.
Thank you to everyone who shared with me along the way with comments, or even just reading with no comments. I appreciate you all.
One Photo-a-Day will most likely continue over at Smugmug.com, I will update details once that’s sorted.

Blueberry Scowl

What is a scowl you may well ask. In this instance it’s a cross between a cowl and a scarf.
The last of the five cowl patterns designed by Liz Abinante is called Blueberry Scowl. It’s very long so I’ll wind it around and around my neck and it also was knitted flat, not in the round, so has a button band and buttons – hence the name ‘Scowl’ – you can wear it either way, buttoned, unbuttoned or buttons as decorations when you wear it as a scarf with the buttons done up.
Sound confusing, it’s not really, just a very creatively designed scowl!
And that is the end of The Great Cowl Kal.
My project details are here.

Lucky Charms

To say I’m proud of these socks in an understatement really.
They were a mystery and there were seven clues in total. I wondered where the cream colour was going to come in the mystery but it wasn’t until Clue 6 as these socks were knit from the toe-up.
Can you see all the lucky charms in the sock? Horseshoes (which you can’t see), they are on the other side of the sock opposite side to the lucky stars and then there are shamrocks and the clover leaf. Pretty clever!
The designer is Wendy Gaal of Knitters Brewing Company.

The Perpetually Persistent … and Purple … Cowl

Knitting with these needles and yarn is like knitting with two thumbs, they are almost that big … haha … and the yarn is like cord.
It’s takes some getting used to after knitting with tiny sock needles and thin yarn. But you end up with very fast growing items, light and airy but warm. This is the Perpetually Persistent Cowl by deisgner Liz Abinante.I think folded in half will be my favourite way to wear this cowl but come really cold days I may change my mind and wear it full width.

Weeble Wobble Cowl

The Weeble Wobble Cowl by designer Liz Abinante is a lovely cowl although it takes forever to knit one round because you cast on over 300 stitches. It is mostly stockinette stitch with some garter stitch on the bottom using short rows. I ended up one row short and had to bind off in the purple yarn I used for the previous cowl. But I think it matched rather well.
My cowl was very, very long and I’m going to wear it twisted three times around my neck and it will sit rather nicely without being too tight. I’m thinking of casting on again but using a yarn with a lot more interest, colour-wise and also perhaps using less stitches.
But first there are still two more cowls to come in The Great Cowl Kal.

Pretty In Pink

Can I say what a labour of love and enjoyment these socks were. The mystery started on the 1st Jan, 2012, I had no idea of what the pattern was or how it would look. I could choose my yarn and wait for the first clue.
So I picked hot pink. And this is what I ended up with.
Project details are here. The sock designer is Kirsten Kapur.
